The first in the "Whats Happening in Australian Ceramics?" series, Part 1: Coming to America presents the origins of my inquiry into the contemporary context of Australian ceramics. In order to assess the relative validity of my perceptions, and access fresh insights, the article summarizes the experiences of four other North Americans who have also relocated their established practices in ceramics to Australia.
